We think that Gulf Shores’ restaurants offer some of the best and freshest food in the world. We realize that everyone has different tastes in food. There are so many choices in the area for good food, that we thought it might be helpful to share some of our favorites with you. Please take into consideration that owners and chefs change from year to year, and with these changes, come a change in the food and atmosphere.
You might what to consider dining out at mid-day; some restaurants offer a cheaper lunch menu without the wait. This will also provide an activity during the heat of the day and allow for extra beach time at sunset. Call ahead to inquire. We think it is fun to cook in the condo – but, after all, you are on vacation, so why not enjoy letting someone else do the shopping and clean up the mess!
If you have never eaten Royal Red shrimp, you must try them while you are here – it is a local favorite. Bon Appetite!
Café Beignet - Located in the Winn Dixie Shoping Center in Orange Beach. Our friends rave about Café Beignet…remember, we hit the beach early, so we usually eat a bowl of cereal with fresh fruit; however, the beignets taste just like the ones from the French Quarter. So, if you are craving the taste of New Orleans, you might try this for breakfast.
Hazels Nook (251.968.7065) - Hazels opened in 1957. It is a favorite for many because it offers buffets at breakfast and lunch. Offering a wide selection of fresh fried seafoods and vegtables.

The Shrimp Basket (251.948.7687) - We have heard that all of their seafood comes from local distributors, no wonder that their food is great. If you are in the mood for fried food, this is one place to go. Try a shrimp po-boy, you will be glad that you did. There are other locations on Perdido Key and in Foley.
The Gulf Shores Steamer (251.948.6344) - This restaurant was voted among the top 20 seafood restaurants in the U.S., according to Costal Living. We know why. This is one of the few local restaurants serving Royal Reds.
